Letters

Letters is written by Winnipeg playwright Brian Langlotz. Letters began during the playwright’s family history project based on an autographed bill of Russian currency from his great uncle. He wanted to know the interesting military history regarding the artifact. This led to an appreciation of the personal sacrifices made to fight the tyranny of evil forces, as expressed in the correspondence between those fighting overseas and the families they left behind. Specifically, the letters between his great uncle and his niece, another uncle and his sister. As a tribute to veterans past and present, and currently serving military personnel, it was originally conceived as a radio play, which was produced, recorded, and broadcast in Winnipeg for the Remembrance Day observances in November 2018. It aired locally on CJNU, and CKUW, with national interest from The Royal Canadian Legions. It was well received. A staged version of the play was performed in the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival.  It was a very well received.  In November 2019 Letters was again brodcast on CKUW.  It also was broadcast on QCCR Radio in Liverpool Nova Scotia.
